At the 2025 ITU Regional Asia-Pacific CyberDrill in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, it was an honor for NCSA’s Director General & CISO, Mr. Mohamed Riznee, to represent the Maldives on an expert panel, voicing the unique cybersecurity regulatory challenges faced by Small Island States.

NCSA’s Director General & CISO, Mr. Mohamed Riznee, represented the Maldives at the 2025 ITU Regional Asia-Pacific CyberDrill in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event brought together over 200 cybersecurity professionals for cyberattack simulations, recovery exercises, and regional dialogue on cybersecurity strategies.

During a bilateral meeting convened in Dubai, on the sidelines of the May 2025 Global Cyberdrill, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) committed to bolstering the Maldivian National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) through capacity building initiatives and a collaborative Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) readiness assessment, thereby fostering a more robust national cybersecurity posture.

NCSA and NCIT joined forces to form a team to represent Maldives at the Global CyberDrill at GISEC Global 2025 where 11 New Guinness World Records were made. NCSA thanks International telecommunication Union and UAE government especially the Cyber Security Council of the UAE for sponsoring our entire trip to represent Maldives at this record breaking event.
